Now that you have selected your Persian kitten, you will need to gather the proper tools and equipment for the kitten’s care. Your Persian kitten demands extra care and attention, especially in the area of grooming. This article will focus upon feeding and litter box training.
Basic supplies include:

o Be sure they are correct height and size
o Kittens need bowls low-to-the-ground yet wide enough so they won’t be tipped over easily

o Avoid plastic bowls as they sometimes emit an odor and can cause feline acne if the rim gets rough or cracked
o Avoid ceramic (this material may contain lead and can break)
o Stainless steel is probably the best selection (it is easy to clean and dishwasher safe, does not have any of the problems plastic and ceramic dishes have)
Keep Persian kitten water and feeding bowls sterilized.
Persian kittens will need fresh water at all times. Change the water daily.
Options of feeding include:
o Leaving food out all the time
o If obesity is feared, a specific schedule is advisable
o Use the recommendation of your breeder or vet

Litter Box Training:
It is said that most cats instinctively know to use a litter box. Some basic tips include:
o When your Persian kitten first arrives, introduce him or her to the litter box first.
o Avoid moving the litter box around for decoration purposes. Pick a spot and leave it there.
o All cats are creatures of habit and they do not appreciate change in any of their routines.
o Do not be tempted to buy a certain brand of litter just because it is on sale. Your Persian kitten will surely be upset.

o Try to place the litter box in a secluded, out-of-the-way area
o Persian kittens may need a smaller box at first so they can easily climb in and out of it

I just recently saw an interesting litter box system. This box automatically scoops up old litter and provides new litter each time the cat uses the box. The box uses a disposable tray filled with litter that needs only removed and discarded monthly. However, this particular system did not have a hood, and was expensive. You can purchase the hood as an accessory (of course).
If you have several Persian cats in the household, this may not be an economical litter box system. Monthly charge for disposable trays of litter was around $20. Can I litter box train my puppy?
Hello, I've recently adopted a little rescue puppy (male, shiapoo, or some shi tzu mix), I got him on Friday, and as expected, he's had some accidents. I also have four cats, whom are trying to adjust as best they can. Now, where I live, this morning, it is 8 degrees outside, with a windshield of -10, at 40 mph, two days ago, when it was 15 degrees or more warmer than it is right now, whenever I took him out, he'd be shaking of cold for about 45 minutes afterwards, and while he was out there, he spent most of the time trying to snuggle against my shoes for warmth. He is extremely small- weighing about a pound and a half, and I'm worried about taking him outside to potty, when it's so cold. The person I adopted him from was very irresponsible, as I actually adopted a female yorkipoo rescue, and he's what she sent me, so I have NO information about him, not even his age, though I'll be taking him to the vet this Friday. I know that all puppies are born with worms, and he definitely has them, so if I do litter box train him, how do I do it, and is there any chance of my cats getting ill from him? Sorry it's so long, but I wanted you to have the proper details to give the best answer.
